The Federal Government appears to have given approval to the ATO's new premises. Works will start on the ATO site in March. While this doesn't provide much of a direct economic boost for central Dandenong (i.e. no new ATO jobs), I think it's a big positive signal at this stage of the redevelopment, and the ground level activation will be very important both now and into the future. Coupled with Mosaic, that is moving along nicely now, and the completion of the council buildings, things are looking up this year so far.
Meanwhile, we're still waiting on City Rise to start, and there's still no word on the private hospital on the pocket of land near Stockman's Bridge. If both of those manage to go ahead, the CBD will have gotten the jump start it has needed for so long. The rest will then be up to the city and its people.
