Work has begun on a new generation office building that will be home to about 850 Australian Taxation Office (ATO) staff in central Dandenong.
Developer EPC Pacific yesterday celebrated the start of earthworks at the site between Walker Street and Halpin Way, with construction expected to be completed in late 2015.
The new ATO building will include 12,600 square metres of office space, stepping up to six levels, and is targeting a 5-Star Green Star rating.
Places Victoria General Manager Precincts Urban Renewal Simon Wilson said key infrastructure projects delivered by Places Victoria as part of the $290 million Revitalising Central Dandenong initiative would make the ATO offices a great place to work.
“ATO staff will be able to take advantage of the street-level shops and cafes that have been encouraged by the development of Halpin Way and Settlers Square, as well as the Pop-Up Park which is right on their doorstep,” he said.
It will be a big building, but still only counts as a small fraction of the amount of land to be developed. That last link is just for developments on the north side of the station! To be clear, not all of those lots are currently blank, despite being slated for new developments. In fact, assuming the private health precinct goes ahead, there are only two remaining lots on the southern side of Walker Street. Still, there's quite a lot to come.
